Pat Musick Lectures at the Clark Institute

The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute

I am so very pleased to be invited by the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute  to do a book signing and lecture on Wednesday May 7th at 3:00 PM. The event is part of the Museum’s Book Fair. The event will take place May 7-17 in the West Pavilion of the beautiful new Ando building in the space looking out over the reflecting pool. The location is a conference room adjacent to where books will be displayed.  Since the Clark is the home of one of Piero’s incredible Madonnas, this event is exciting beyond words for me.

Two Musick Works on Exhibit

Rutland Vermont has become the home of two of Pat Musick’s giant wall sculptures. The first to be installed is Ishtar at the Southside SteakHouse. This is a powerful mixed media work…canvas, stone, wood and steel. Large, sweeping curves describe the Mesopotamian Goddess of fertility, war, love and sex. Hmmm. Interesting combination. Did the Mesopotamians have it right? She is receiving enthusiastic acceptance from patrons of the new, delightful Grill as well as Wally Sabotka, the owner.

The other sculpture is at the Green Mountain Power Company. It is titled Ra. This is a depiction of the Egyptian God of the sun. It speaks of the function of GMP, to produce and provide power and energy. Made of wood, canvas and acrylic it rests on a huge earth-green wall in the company’s computer facility. It is a focus point for the activity area where workers can take an exercise break. Both pieces are from Musick’s Gods and Goddesses series.

Mariangeli Betti, the Director of the Museo Civico in Sansepolcro, Italy, who gave us this amazing image of Piero della Francesca’s Madonna Misericordia says, ” In this journey of the soul (the suthor) has made many other meetings that have allowed us to know the culture of central Italy in all its components: environment, nature, art, landscapes, gastronomy, places, people. The book tells all and can transmit it with expertise, irony, but never banal. Thank you Pat for this work.” The book is a labor of love…love of all things Tuscan.
